Unbreakable-Thanks for the support. You are correct and true in your statements.

    Potatoes-
-That's what I'm basically saying though! They've got to keep the nerdiness on the low down because if anyone were to find out how awesome they actually were, then everyone would start being nerdy and therefore lose all awesomeness in nerds.

-But see, that's where you are wrong, good sir. HArry didn't have everything he needed. True he had all the physical items needed to end Voldemorte's reign, but he was still missing something. He had all but the motivation to defeat Voldemorte. The greatest warrior in the world is nothing without his courage. For his courage is what drives him! No one needs to ask him what his purpose is! Because they can see it in his eyes! For they know on this day, He fights! HE FIGHTS FOR HIS FREEDOM! And Harry needed some inspiration.

Patr10t-No he didn't. And no. That is not enough said.

Anyway. Sorry for taking so long to reply. I was away from the internet.

All of this debate makes me want to reread the HP series, but not so much start to read LotR.

And really, you know why they are able to do all of these things? Because the author made it so. They didn't get together before writings and say "Hey, my wizard is going to pwn your white mage in an online poll." They are from two completely differeny stories. Dumbledore is dead because he isn't immortal, and because the author made it so. Not because He was weak and frail or anything like that. Because the author said "Its time to kill off Dumbledore. He's had a nice run."

-No offense to Unbreakable, but without reading or watching any of the LOTR books or movies you cannot make an accurate judgement, so your statement is void

    @Toastman
    - No, we are not basically saying the same thing. Re-read it if you like.

-So Voldemort kills his parents, his friends, and many other people, and still Harry has no motivation?
Yea right. And, courage and motivation are not the same thing. Harry did not need more motivation than what he already had, he was just being greedy.

If we're talking about sheer "magical" power Gandalf is the clear victor according to all written subject matter. I've read almost all Harry Potter related material, and I've read all of Tolkien's work including his short stories, the Similarion, etc... To put it bluntly, Gandalf is (basically) the descendant of gods. He has lived far longer than Dumbledore and knows more about fighting than Dumbledore could ever hope to.

The representation of Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings movies is extremely tame, he was much more powerful than the movies portray. If I lived in a magical universe, I would much rather have Gandalf as a friend than Dumbledore. However I don't see why they would be enemies, they share many common beliefs and ideologies.

Gandalf survived a great fall and Dumbledore didn't.

    Gandalf wins by a landslide.

-I still count his vote because he is right and a human being! So basically, you're saying he does not count and is less of a human than yourself! You elitist!

-Oh. I misunderstood. Nevertheless. My point still stands. Being a dork is obviously not mainstream. And by both of our definitions, since it is not mainstream, then it must be awesome. Therefore, being a dork/Nerd is awesome.

-I didn't say he didn't have motive! Of course he had motive. Half the people he knew were killed by Voldemorte. He needed inspiration! He needed to believe in himself! He needed the Gryffindor spirit that so many strive to have!

Freelancer-If he's the equal to God's offspring, then why couldn't he simpl walk into Mordor?

Latios-NEVER! "No cause shall die so long as there's one fool to fight for it!"

Matri- I'm seriously getting tired of members that no one even knows just coming in and posting one liners. Especially ones I've already addressed. If you want a reply to this, read the entire discussion. I'm sure you'll find it eventually.
