I've been reading a bit of the backdraft from that South Park episode that featured the Muslim prophet and was wondering if any Muslims could give me a personal explanation to the reasoning behind not allowing an image of him. I know the scripted reason but I want someone to tell me in human words.

Because he is the most perfect human ever existed, in our beliefs. Putting an image and connecting it with him is like telling people the image is exactly him. No one could ever tell how exactly he looked like except for some features somewhere written in books or even by words of old folks who were told by their old folks and such. He is sacred to us Muslims. Though, we will be able to see him, the real him when the Judgement Day arrives or sometime after that.

And that is my personal explanation. If you're not satisfied, you could ask other muslims like Rami or even chingy (Resolution-X) if he's still here.

Ok, so you idealise him with a veil of perfection which would be compromised by the crudeness of imagery?

Do you think that justifies the barbaric and aggressive methods of which you enforce what is sacred to you? Doesn't it compromise itself to follow a religion which claims to pursue peace yet, appears to be excessively hostile with seemingly every conflicting situation? I realise I'm talking about generalisations but, not so much that I'm wrong.

You know calling mohammad "sacred" might not be the best word.

About having like an image or another character saying that this was similar to him, so that person or image will now represent him and people might see that person as similar to mohammad.

And that is not only for just mohammad, for all the other prophets.

To be honest, I don't think I have the best answer to this, so may be the other people on this site, because I do not know the exact answer for this, NOT because there isn't an answer to this.

Would you care if I drew a stick man and said is was Mohammed?

Obviously yes it would. You're now giving the impression you're trying to see how far you can push one of the Muslims on this site to react angrily which will be considered offending someone's religion.

I have no intention of actually creating or showing an image of Mohammed, I just wanted to understand the boundaries, not push them.

    You're christian right?
Well if so, would you care if someone drew Jesus as a Stick man?

As I said before, if you actually knew more about Islam than reading w/e parts you want, you'd know that we wouldn't like anyone to draw or be the character of any other prophet not just mohammad.

And I would never draw or offend jesus in any way because us muslims also believe in jesus, just not the same exact way you guys do.

Shouldn't this be in the GD?
