I honestly haven't had a bath in 5 to 6 years, I personally find showering more effective for my current life style. As for side effects that really depends on a variety of factor, temperature, how sober you are, etc... One of mates passed out in a bath a couple years ago and almost drowned. Not saying you should avoid a hot bath, but I've also heard of people having Stokes and Heart Attacks while having a bath after a couple of alcoholic drinks. Not sure if its true, but I also heard it can temporarily effect a women's baby making machine if the water is too hot.

Being submerged in hot water, like in a hot tub or a hot bath, does reduce the male sperm count for a time.

I lay in the tub, because it feels good on my back. I'm not concerned about sperm count, because I'm not trying to get anyone pregnant.

I personally am a wuss when it comes to hot water. If it gets too hot, I tend to shy away until I mix it with cooler water to get it to hit the right temperature.
I take showers nowadays, but being a gay man, sperm count is only an issue if I want to make donations to fertility clinics/sperm banks, which I plan to do eventually.
