That is a sign of imminent disk failure.
****! This is the worst thing that should never affect my computing life, ever!
for me the worst thing would be my gfx card dying out on me. HDD nah..not that important
My hard-disk has lots of important data, like project files, source codes, freeware programs, music, movies and lots more...And losing that will give me a panic attack!
my intire life is in my hard drive
if i lose it it will be the same as bieng dead for me
And this, boys, is why we back-up data.
yea...right!
I don't have a pair of spare terabyte drives lying around to back up my 1.78tb of random ****.

I have two backups:
1. To my external HDD
2. To my server

I have found that it is handy to have access to an image I got from Compuserve in 1989, or a song I downloaded in 1994, or a paper I wrote for a class in 1997. Also, I make images of every game disk I have and use a virtual drive manager. Disk swapping is for chumps.
