The coldest Virginia winter up until the 20th century was the winter of 1862-63.

And it still wasn't cold enough to get snow.

In January of 1863, a Union offensive was canceled due to the rain and mud.

Northern and Northwestern Virginia usually don't close unless it's 6 or more inches.

Richmond, however, will close if snowflakes touch the ground. I remember one time in high school, the school closed because of rain. Normal rain, not freezing rain or anything, just.... rain.

I like how nobody payed any attention to the original poster's problem at hand, and how this has turned into a conversation about the weather.

A day in high school was canceled because of rain for me. That was because the back of the school is on the levee, and the river is not even 50 feet from the school. There was a flood warning that day.

Agreed. Why do these big city/southern schools close down for a few inches of snow? It's not going to kill you you know.

Texan drivers have problems driving in normal conditions. You really want to add slippery roads to it?

    Your bitterness, I will dispel
