Was thinking, when playing this awesome, old-school (relatively, anyway), RPG - which is quite darn good to be honest - that it'd be fun and interesting to play around with several attributes and strings that the trainer doesn't allow at this time. (Such as character influences, alignments, character classes, class/skill/profession combinations etc. etc.)

As a comparison; much like the KSE (KotOR Savegame Editor) for KotOR I and II.

Especially interested in playing around with the alignment of NPC's towards the PC, if anyone knows how to edit said values - please type 'em down

I have looked some at the save game files, but haven't really been able to make something good out of it.

Trainer options affecting the above mentioned details would of course be a very welcome addition, if they're at all possible :]

Save games for this are about 4-5mb on avg.

So it will take someone a lot of time to sit and find all the offset's to things. Which means having two save files, with say different things to stats like giving a gift to someone on another save etc.

Or if someone figures out the encryption the save file uses and to that end can easily make an editor to read the information.
Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA

That's true, although with KSE the options were so numerous the author basically must've figured out the save game encoding somehow... I'm thinking it should be possible to do with DA's savegames aswell - unfortunately I'm having no real luck with them yet :/ Another possibility would of course be a trainer option or console commands, as said; any advice would be very welcome

most of the big time editors (like diablo etc.) weren't out within a day of the game being released. people have to take time to hack these things. sometimes you have to actually see how the game is encrypting data, etc. i don't know if this game has anything unusual about how it saves files, but the data stored within the game was interesting.

a save editor for this game seems to me that it would be a very intensive project, and one that someone would do because of a deep love for the game. i don't know if we have had time enough to see if this game means that much to someone yet-

Of course, save game editors usually take some time - as they require some pretty deep knowledge about how the game stores a lot of data permanently, that can be encoded or encrypted, and usually this takes a lot longer than finding in-game data, as you can look for that (relatively) easy in real-time.

However, console options for modifying similar parameters would be sweet - and certainly not impossible, as earlier Bioware games have had those options.

Trainer options could be possible (I believe, seeing how the data is being handled by the game), but all that is up to you, trainer makers extraordinaire.

The Chr file (from the DA:O Character Creator) is saved as a V4 GFF file. The basic structure is shown on the Wiki:
    social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/GFF

The data is probably encrypted to stop us just changing the basic stats. The CC chr files don't have inventories etc.

I'd love to see a V4 GFF extractor but that's probably a few days off at least! ;-)
