Is there a way to manually set the graphic options. They seem to be saved in a video.scr-file. Does anybody know how to open these files? I'd like to disable shadows and post-processing.
    Thanks in advance

    I forgot...
www.tweakguides.com/COJ_8.html tells u the procedure for coj1 but I can't open the file.

    Yep. Sure thing:

Assuming XP (vista in similar though), the location of the file is:
    ~drive~:\Documents and Settings\~username~\My Documents\Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood\Out\Settings\

The file is .scr, and this is the same extension windows uses for it's screensaver filetypes. It handles them in a certain way, and you won't get an 'Open' option; just options like 'Test', 'Install' etc.

So to open it, you can either install a better text editor than notepad/wordpad; so something like Ultraedit or Editplus would be good. These will give you an edit option in the right-click menu.

Alternatively, you can open up notepad or wordpad first and then drag and drop the file into that window. That will force it to open in there. Then you will see the various graphics options. The game even comments the bits for you! Make the changes then save, just as above.

Hope that get's you going. I believe you can edit all those options from in-game though once logged into your player profile

Thanks, i just used a wrong editor. the standart opens it fine but it seems like shadows can't be disabled like in the first game. No matter which shadow option i use, i still find it very annoying. like in gtaIV, it's flickering too much and not really helpful for the gameplay itself.

It would be faster to just change the file extension to .txt, open in you favorite editor, make your changes, save, then change the file extension back to .scr. Everything contained within is plain text anyhow.

In which case you probably can't then. It's obviously an integral part of the game

They really needed to provide more Post Processing options. I love how everything looks in "normal", except for the background heatwave effect.

There's a graphical glitch where it is effecting foreground objects, like the gun in your hand. Really would have loved it to work, but an option to turn just that off would be loads better than having to turn off all PP just to get rid of it.
