Shades of Blue and Gray. Herman Hattaway. (New York: Harcourt Brace, 1997).

Essentially a condensed version of "How the North Won", by the same author and Archer Jones.

But whereas "How the North Won" was a straight military history, "Shades of Blue and Gray" instead focuses on a single theme--the directly applicable lessons learned by American and European military theorists from observing, participating in, and studying the US Civil War.

"How the North Won" is strictly for those with backgrounds in military history and military science. It plunges right into intricate arguments without any background information.

"Shades of Blue and Gray" is for the general public. Probably 90% of the book is a crash course in relevant concepts in military science and historical background and 10% is the serious base of the work.

This doesn't mean it's for the dumb slob on the street. If you can't fight a civil war battalion, that's OK. But you better damn well know some basic information, like what professionalism means in terms of military science or be able to recognize names like Jomini, von Clausewitz, Dennis Hart Mahan, Emory Upton and the like.
In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'

And now i'm reading a book by Moshiri a Persian witter about the structure of Lebanon political powers.
"I'm not even sure if we are a family...". Holding an axe by the knob as she was standing at the arch of the doorway, she said.
"Still I can dream, can't I?". He quibbled.

Damn I can't get even a small break from my University books, So its impossible for me to read any other kind of books. But I remember the last book I read - About a year ago.

Da Vinci Code By Dan Brown

Gripping story - Full of suspense. Though the potential readers were supposed to be Catholics, I enjoyed it and almost got into the story. Rating: 9/10
Life is best for those who enjoy it, difficult for those who analyze it and worst for those who criticize it.

One of the classics, if you could read the English Version then you'll surely be drifted!
