Just decrypt your original MergedCompetences.xmd with loki.xmd.exe,
open the decrypted file (MergedCompetences.xml) with notepad,
go to tab format > word wrap,
go to tab edit > find, fill it with Monster_rarete or Chest_rarete,
when you found it, it will looks like: Monster_rarete

commun ancestral celestial divine ... etc
N1=0.0 N2=0.15 N3=10.0 N4=30.0 N5=60.0 N6=100.0

Edit all the value to 100.0
N1=100.0 N2=100.0 N3=100.0 N4=100.0 N5=100.0 N6=100.0

Next time you kill a monster or open a chest it will give you an orange items

Every time I put in the file, when I start the game, it reverts to the original version, how do I slap the ***** to do what I want it to?

What about green and red items?

Green items are a bit crap but the red ones are good, what about telling uz how to mod the drops for them? or re uploading it with red from, cheats and bosses?

When i redone the file all i got to were loads of greens lol, but still no reds.

I'm on Vista64 and get the same error every time I try to decrypt using loki.xmd.exe. It tells me Stream ! =Null! and if I retry, it crashes the application. I've copied both files (how annoying to even have to do this) into the root C: directory and use the command line:

Loki.xmd -d mergedcompetences.xmd mergedcompetences.xml
Then I try
Loki.xmd -d c:\mergedcompetences.xmd c:\mergedcompetences.xml

And then again with only one location or another.. it's always the same error and nothing happens beyond the program showing it's processing and, of course, the crash back to the command prompt.

Any suggestions?

If anyone is having trouble modifying their mergedcompetences.xmd file send me a PM with your email address and I will forward you a copy of mine.

Here is a list of some of the changes I have made:

*Eliminated the drop rate for all monsters except for bosses. (The reason I did this is because I was tired of cleaning up after all the monsters. Also, it slows the game down if you have treasure lying around everywhere.)

*Eliminated drop rate for gold and potions. (It is easier just to modify the characs.xmd to give you unlimited gold and potions. You can still buy potions at the merchant and you will never run out of gold if you sell everything you pick up.)

*Treasure - chests, monsters, and merchants sell/drop:
*Mortal: Dark Blue & Orange
*Hero: Dark Blue & Green
*Deity: Dark Blue & Red

(After defeating Loki if you continue to play chests, monsters, and merchants will sell/drop yellow items which are the highest in game. I included dark blue items because it is fun to modify them at the blacksmith.)

*Merchants along with high level items will also now sell ruins.

*Ruins will now drop multiply ruins instead of just one.

*Maximized fun. (Loki has a lot of really cool weapons and armor that you would normally miss or you wouldn't see until 1000's of hours of play. Modifying this file has dramatically improved my enjoyment of the game.)

Disclaimer:

Always save your original files first before modifying them because I can not guarantee my modifications will work with your game. Also, I am running the latest version of Loki with the latest patch.

I appreciate that some of you guys have made some really cool mods and everything, but I fancy trying to make them myself. Unfortunately, I'm having the exact same problem as Scallawag (above) though, i.e. everytime I try to run the file, I get a Visual C++ assertion error.

Any ideas would be gratly appreciated.
