i tried this and got it to work as far as decrypting and re encrypting the xmd files to xml so i can edit them. the problem i am having is that once i edit the xml then try to convert it back into a xmd file the save file goes from 9kb to 128kb cause it keeps adding tags that show what program i used to edit it and font tags and other useless junk. i used openoffice to save it into the xml but when you convert it into the xmd the game cant recognize all the extra junk that openoffice added in and they dont work cause of this. if you know what program to use to make these compatible with the game please post it here
