STATE OF GAMING and a THANKS

Literally EVERYTHING IVE WORKED ON the past week has already patched, some of them 2 times. A few games, amazingly BIG games and JUST CAME OUT, have not... but that is not the norm any longer.

The state of gaming seems to be to release a game and have the population pay for it, THEY test it for you, report back all the bugs you didn't spend any time to try and find (or money or manpower), and release 20 patches over the next month or two to address them. It "works" I guess, and most gamers seem ok with it. Game companies are not in business to make OUR life easier here.

However, note that this is a unique problem for us since we end up getting:
1 complaints that the trainer doesn't work
2 spend time over and over for the same game, sometimes within hours of releasing a trainer it's broken again.
3 have to rewrite major portions of code because the developer rewrites major portions of code. This can make some options be dropped, work differently, etc.
4 it tends to snowball, as more and more games never seem to be "complete". You have titles that continue to patch WEEKLY for 5-6 years. As our title database gets bigger and bigger, you can imagine that each day there is a huge list of games just updating.. again. I can leave a list of about 20 games installed, and literally almost each day the vast majority of them will once again have another update.

Our focus, and the purpose of this site, is to bring you the new games, as complete with options as we can, in timely manner, and to support them over time. Some games, just make this task incredibly hard to do. Even if we had a team of 20 people, which we don't, it would be a monumental task just from the sheer number of games we support, and the sad state of gaming where in the PC world, updates are a given, and sometimes are a crutch (if you ask me).

Don't even get me started with "early access". That racket has people thinking they are getting something special, that they are priviledged to be playing this game before the rest of the population gets it 'when it's done'. Like you are part of the process. If I EVER write a game, and I have many ideas (just have zero time), I would definitely release it on Early Access and have the rubes fund me learning how to code it, finding my problems for me, and generally being my quality control, as they pay me for that "priviledge". AGAIN, I can't get mad at developers for taking this tact, as it's good for THEM, and apparently gamers LIKE being used this way and paying for it. But can you keep your patches to like, one a week, or maybe 2 a month?

As a GAMER, I would be glad that the developers are updating and fixing issues. It's hard to scold them for trying to fix or make the game better. So I can't get upset with that either. Just realize that we can't always "add this" or go back to 2003 game and "update it" or "move it to aurora" or fight with anticheats for hours when the list of work and new games and updates is so huge. We have to look at it, then decide if it's going to fit into the schedule and what is priority or not. Our system has helped a lot, so people spending RC and helping us find out what is most popular and etc, helps us to triage where to put the work. In the end, though, we are still bound by time and volume of work.

In the run up to the holidays, sometimes it REALLY gets busy. We are smashed with work and titles. Note that I can't remember a Christmas or even a Thanksgiving where I took the whole day off, didn't work at all. Not saying this to get sympathy, just re-emphasizing that (for us) the work never stops. In fact it may be even WORSE on holidays that there is more to update, patched, releases. GAMERS want to play. THEY are off work, and good for them! That's what keeps us going.

So if you feel the urge to go negative, to lash out because "this option doesn't work anymore, get it together Cheathappens", or "Wheres the trainer? It's been 5 hours?" or "doesn't work.. does anyone check these things"? The answer is... we are probably more busy and doing more than you can imagine. Trying to keep everyone happy... trying to keep the work list completed. Option requests, new game requests, endless patching.. IT's a LOT.

So please keep that in mind, but also. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUBSCRIPTION. Thank you for donating, or taking part in moving to PLUS, or ANOTHER TIER if you are already LIFETIME. THANKS for KIND comments if you have them. THANKS for REFERRING US to others. Send someone the GIFT of Cheathappens if they are a gamer! Literally almost ALL of the gaming magazines and reviewers and business types who have to get through these games and put out info reviews and etc are using our trainers to help with the process. We are in the DNA of gaming and have been for years! We really ARE the best at this, and maybe we don't have as many options sometimes, or there is unique issue from time to time, but NOBODY ON EARTH is putting out more trainers, and SUPPORTING THE WORK AFTERWARDS than us. We strive to get it right way more than wrong, and all the work that goes without issue, and is posted quickly, and is supported on end without incident... never gets the notice. It's that small thing or the one thing that "goes wrong" when the game updated for the 100th time, and suddenly we are apparently inept or something.

And frankly it's a small team. We have ONE major trainer maker, ONE assistant, and ONE who does most of our software but also can work with trainers. There' is only THREE of us doing the trainers and updating them. I am thankful for DEVIL and 0x90. I could and have done this all by myself and for years, but that sort of existence is criminal. They are capable and as a team nobody is putting out and updating trainers like we do. And we ALL BUST OUR ***, 24/7. No real days off. If one team member is down, then the others have to do even more (like being sick, or a family event, etc.) So from the team here, please be "gentle" with your criticisms. We definitely need to hear if something is wrong, and we try to help. But going postal, sometimes it makes us demoralized, and go "postal" right back, which helps nothing.

If you have a save game and instructions, and can REPEAT your issue over and over. THOSE are the best sorts of things we can possibly try to fix, as we can take your save and look at it. Note, even so, we may still have 20 things ahead of your post. Sometimes I have to get word from the boards mods that there is even a post, as I haven't had time to get to it.

Now with all this said, I take a moment to pause and reflect that there are many people in the world who are suffering or going through much more complex and life issues than me. So thoughts and prayers out to them. If you are in a place where there is strife or war or economic issues, my heart goes out to you.

Sorry this rant got long, but it's been a grueling couple weeks for the team here, and I'm reaching out to give some background and also to tell you guys THANKS for being here. Hard to believe 2024 is almost here.

    Hear hear!

It's amazing what CH has done and become. Now that I'm older and have less time for gaming sometimes it's the only way I can get things actually done without spending an era I don't have grinding.

Don't let anyone get you down, you do a tremendous service for the community. Maybe a fundraiser to get you some more assistance?

Hey, thank you for the hard work over the decade, it's been fun to play single-player games (especially ubi**** games)

It's the loud minority who complain about the trainers not being updated in seconds after being broken.

Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing another decade of updates!

Your work is massively appreciated by me at least, and I hate when people are negative to those who do that kind of work.

I've seen entire communities fall apart because KEY people just got fed up with trolls and naysayers who didn't appreciate everything they did for them.

Amen Brother.. You all are rock solid.. Which is why I support you. You guys have the best support and the best trainers.. I wish I knew how to do what you guys do because I am retired and all I do is play games! But I have no coding knowledge. Don't let the haters and impatient wanks get to you. The majority of us, love your work and your diligence in keeping the trainers up to date and steadily coming out. Bravo!
