I've noticed on the trainers for several games (souls-like especially) that, while there is an option for god mode, there's never an option for a damage reduction modifier (either on how much damage the player takes or how much damage an enemy deals).

I'm curious to know what specifically make's damage reduction so unfeasible whereas removing damage entirely is doable?

so the god mode and unlimited health would easier to find and modify compared to how many damage types a game would have. lets say dark souls is programmed to have slashing damage stabbing damage and magic damage, if all goes to plan that would be 3 different values that would need changed and if a boss is codded to have its own "Special" damage type then you would need another trainer option

I can see that, though wouldn't an option that increases a players base armor to, say, 300 instead of 0 effectively do the same thing? Most, if not all of those games having some sort of hidden scaling multiplier (like for how weapon damage scales to strength or dexterity).

It just seems like there has to be some way other than outright modding to make the game easier w/o completely eliminating the challenge via immortality.

What you ask is like looking for a needle in a barn, each game is differently programmed and it has different functions for calculating the dealt damage either to player or npc so finding and modifying them the way you like is almost impossible because there are like thousands of of codes without names just plain assembly and in some engines like Unreal Engine is even harder because the way the engine behaves hence we go with the best we could provide.

Fair enough, was just curious as to why it was always like that, that's all.
