So I figured that I would kick off a thread to discuss the implementation of Pluton (www.microsoft.com/security/blog/2020/11/17/meet-the-microsoft-pluton-processor-the-security-chip-designed-for-the-future-of-windows-pcs/) by Microsoft and it seemingly being included in all new Intel & AMD CPU's.
I was curious if this will have a direct impact on the development and functionality of trainers.

Pluton is already shipping in the AMD 6000 series laptop CPU's and AMD has said it will come to their desktop CPU's as well. Intel has also committed to building it into their future CPU's.
We will see what happens but it's def something to keep an eye on. It could def be used for things like DRM, anti-cheat etc. And I'm not saying never but it would probably be very difficult to "crack". It's based on the security system of the xbox one which hasn't been broken yet.
For the laptops with the AMD CPU's that have it now, they do include the option to disable it in BIOS, but game developers could just make it so that if you don't have it enabled you can't play the game. Though they wouldn't do this till pluton is commonplace in people's PC's so I'd say at least 5-6 years out.
But this concerns me.
"Pluton will also prevent people from running software that has been modified without the permission of developers. said Joseph FitzPatrick, a hardware hacker and a researcher specializing in firmware security at SecuringHardware.com"

I'm guessing that this will affect the hardware hacking community more than it would a site like ours. Can you imagine if they killed off the entire PC modding world? There would be riots in the streets. It might affect some MMO type games, which it fully should, but I don't think the single player games will see much of an effect, but that is just my take on it. Especially if a user can disable it in the BIOS and it's only a software based solution at that point, we could likely get around that if needed just like EAC today.
