Do I need Java or something else to open the trainer. Worked well on my old laptop, but it is aksing me what program I want to open the file with.

Your antivirus is blocking it so it needs an exclusion to open the file, see here for help

Didn't work. Access allowed. Also tried the other persons link to fix the REG. Still requests to open with a program. Any ideas?

Seems to only be an issue with the older trainer versions instead of the newer games. Trying with Red Solstic, worked a few hours ago.

Most likely an anti-virus catching one of the temp files the trainer makes, Exclude the folder where your trainers are and the work folder

C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\Cheathappens\Work

May need to clear quarantine if it was already flagged and reset your windows default apps.

Clearing Windows Defender protection history, delete all in folder

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Service

Next, open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Manage settings.
Toggle the button to Off then to On again for Real-Time protection and Cloud-delivered protection.

If using another antivirus, consult their website for cleaning out the quarantine folder. Or set to ALLOW if it lets you.

In case someone wants to know, in Windows 10, go to:
Security\Virus & Threat Protection\Managed Settings\Add or Remove Exclusions\

Then add these *folder* exclusions one by one. (I'm not keen on excluding none-'cheathappens' folders for security reasons.)

I only had to add the below for Witcher 3;
C:\Users\\Cheathappens\Work\
C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Cheat Happens\0x90\
C:\ProgramData\CheatHappens\
