Expansion? Are you talking about Metal Gear Online 2 or something else?
They're releasing a PvP (like 6v6 or 8v8 or something) gamemode early next year. Probably like Batman Arkham Origins' online mode or Splinter Cell Blacklist's online mode.
So it's going to be actual PvP, not co-op or freeroam co-op.
That is Metal Gear Online 2 I think. I know that one. Coming January (most likely) of 2016. Question is not about that...I am worried about this stupid FOB in MGS V. Hate the fact that they had to make it like that. WHY not just keep it separate from MB (offline gamemode)?
Currently right now there is a MP style in the game. With the FOB. If you invade or they invade. You can jump in and defend your FOB. That is the only MP part in the game right now.

Yeah it does cost you, your gmp. I got invaded a few times first two got humped and the second one they got some of my dudes but they got killed. Took my time and set up focused points for the security based on those three invades.
There is a cap on gmp tho so anything over that it will run down to 5 million if I remember right. Slightly annoying. But I see why they have done that so you have to send out groups to make/gain gmp.
As for that other MP stuff thats coming later..... Another killer to a great game in my veiw. FOB MP is alright. Am not to bothered about it. But so far my notes are really putting this game down for my nest review....
