Yeah the way I've always used the tech tree cheat works the same in TWR2 as in Attila. Press the option(5), go into the tech tree click on the last available tech option for both civil and military so the route is highlited. Save. Restart the game and 90% of the tech is done without having to end a turn. Anyone else try it?

works fine for me too,
you can research the whole techtree in a few rounds, just activate with key 5 when youre in techtree and choose the last tech save and reload the game.

Currently the only options that work for me are mega gold and unlimited movement. I have the steam version of the game.

We have revamped the Tech Tree option (Instant Research) since too many people were reporting problems. This new version should help a lot. Pwizard just posted a new version so delete your trainer and re-download.

Numpad 5: Instant Research - WORKS DIFFERENT NOW! Enter the technology
screen and then press the option. You have 3 seconds to click on
ANY item in the tech trees. The option will deactivate itself
automatically. Select a different Tech tree option or leave the
tech tree screen and come back and you will see that the tech
is unlocked and can be used. This option now only works on the
tech tree items YOU CLICK ON while the option is activated. The
item(s) that you affected with this option are INSTANTLY available
and researched. No more waiting a turn for them to unlock!

We are looking at adding more options with time.
