Achievements are client side, they affect noone appart from the user, and even then acheivements give no benefit. Ive been using SAM for years simply so i dont get those annyoing pop ups whilst im playing.
I don't use it so makes no difference to me. But there a variety of opinions about it in the forums. Always somebody threatening to report it to Valve. The usual blathering. Like these:

Well, don't that frost your mug. It wouldn't be the first time I've heard of an older rig outpacing a new one like Lady Ath's compared to yours but it never makes a lot of sense.
And get this. Steam has Minimum Req as a GTX-460 and Recommended as GTX-670.
Now that's a genuine WTF.
Could be the fact I'm running a 144hz monitor, might notice it more.
Who knows...
Dying Light I could crank up the view distance and never suffered frame drops like Totalbiscut and many others.
