Is there a way to heal damaged units in combat or must it be done on the "MAP" screen?

Right um, your question wasn't exactly posed in normal English. For the units to 'heal on the map screen' you have to do nothing, only keep them in your territory and have a food surplus, at least on the province in which they are located (if you don't have global food surplus). What is a 'force icon map'?

here is what you have to do :
clicking on your army and mouse over one of the units
press [Numpad 7]<<< this key. If the unit was damaged or missing some men, it will instantly increase back to full strength.

Before this will work you have to first activate the Unit Options by pressing the F5 key.

I’m sorry for my bad English, but what my question was, is how the Heal unit works. I now think that I know how it works. You can only use this option when you are on the global map area, not when you are in the battle itself, which really sucks! But if I have it wrong can someone please correct me.

You got it. That was why I posted this thread. You can only heal units on the global map screen, not in the battle screen, which is unfortunate but it is better than nothing. It still gives you the advantage.
