How about you simply upgrade your legally purchased game to 1.0001 and use the trainer provided?

You have to use your steam launcher, go to Library, go to the Starpoint Gemini 2 and there should be a workshop tab you can click on to access the mods.

Going to try both trainer and mods.. Not sure if they will work but going to give it a try..
