I just subscribed in July. If I had known you were going to institute a new policy that unfortunately affects certain games I play I would have purchased the lifetime. Any chance you will allow us to pay the difference rather than the full cost?

did you even read the full post?

    Spoiler:

In order to assist current yearly members in moving to LIFETIME, we have created a promo code that can be used to apply the FULL PRICE of your yearly membership towards a lifetime account. The promo code is "CHULIFEPROMO20". THIS PROMO CODE WILL EXPIRE ON OCT 31, 2013.

I did not read all 16 pages of the thread, so please excuse me if this was already mentioned, but I feel that this may hurt the site in the long-term.

Obviously this change is sure to prompt many yearly members to switch to lifetime. While that generates some instant cash, for every yearly member that converts to lifetime you lose recurring revenue.

If every yearly member on this site converted to lifetime right now, you'd be ok for another year or 18 months, but then you'd be hoping and praying for a ton more yearly members since your lifetime members aren't providing you any recurring revenue anymore. Donations by lifetime members are nice, but you can't expect nor rely on them.

I would rather see something along the lines of a platinum yearly and platinum lifetime added to the current options. Maybe $70/year and $120 lifetime.

I hope you figure out a way to secure long-term recurring revenue streams. I don't believe the current lifetime-only perks are the answer, I think they are a problem. I'd hate to see this place see hard times.

Just my two cents, shared with nothing but respect and love for CH.

We appreciate your feedback, but like I've said already, this is the best solution for RIGHT NOW. We have not fallen on hard times. The site continues to be more successful year after year. This is about noticing a trend in a small number of games and realizing that we need a little more support in order to deal with these games on a near daily basis. As of right now this affects less than 0.5% of ALL TRAINERS on the site. If this affected 50% of our work, then the policy would be different. Now, we don't know if that will be the case down the line or not. Maybe if people actually started complaining to Valve that they are paying full price for a half-finished game, then maybe some controls will be put in to force the developers to put actual TESTING in before releasing a broken game to the public. We didn't want to up the prices for ALL MEMBERS when it only affects a very small portion of the user base. We also didn't want to add an additional fee for those that already purchased a lifetime account and were promised that they would never have to pay again. We also were not prepared to add an additional layer of membership, again because it affects such a small number of games at present.

We have almost 12 years of historical data on our members. We know how many have purchased more than one year's subscription, how many have purchased one year or one month and never returned and how many users are completely new to the site on a daily basis. All of these things were taken into consideration.

So, please trust us that this is the right decision for the time being. Should we need to re-evaluate somewhere down the line, we will do so.

Don't you just love the many statistical apps available? I bet that made this choice and many others a lot easier.

Just felt like saying I've been a member for almost 3 years
and purchased lifetime from the very start if I remember correctly. Back then it was something like 40 US Dollars?

A total bargain, considering I have downloaded an estimated number of 300 or 400 + trainer files.

Please take that into consideration before you start whining about the cheapest site subscription on the internet, people.

This site charges you ONCE, not yearly or monthly, weekly, ONCE.

Even paid for several trainers and donated because I felt cheap to download for nuts and have these guys working their ass off for free.

This site deserves continuous support, unlike so many others.

Never, PW, Caliber, hope you guys will be even more successful.

Just a suggestion why not figure out how much a game like Borderlands 2 which is at 20+ updates or more costs be updated per update. Say that is $100 so make it so that lifetime members can add money/donations to that specific game, once you reach your specific goal for that update then work/publish the trainer. Maybe even set up an account for each of these games so that members can pay into it and you will get reimbursed for the cost of these games that are taking away from all games. Plus this will allow the user/members to decide what games are the most important to us. I would gladly pay an extra 20 to 30 dollars for a working trainer for a game I am playing ie.. Borderlands 2 that needs to be constantly updated. This has proven to work best example i can give is the Veronica Mars movie the fans made that happen.

Sorry, but that is way more work on us than the current policy.
