No the number is increased based upon your controlled provinces. As you conquer it increases.

Whats the point in the food edit? it just reset straight away and attrition sets in

there is no point.. it works just like the food option in the previous 3 games in the series. people asked for it in droves so we made the option, even though we reported (as before) that it is only temporary and works like the food option of old. basically what i gather is it allows you to form more armies when normally you wouldn't be able to due to negative or zero food number.

How does the Weak Units/Super Units work? I mouse over enemy/friendly and press the key and nothing happens.

read the readme.

First you have to press the F5 key to active the unit options. after that you can heal/weak or make yourself a superunit.
