Try turning on VSync, it'll cap your FPS at the refresh rate.

I don't know why it works for people with heat problems with Stalker, but it seems to.

I believe I've done that to stop the unbearable noise my graphics card was making, I'll double check though.

I don't recall if STALKER has stuff like bloom...but if it does, turn that off too.
