They've updated the executable. The version number is still 1.80 and the single change seems to be a slogan "sorcerer king is out there" on the startup screen.
The game crashes for me if trainer is activated at the moment of loading or just after the end of the next turn.
Would be great it you update the trainer (it's really great!).

this "patch" was basically an advertisement injected into the game?

Seems its true, game crashes while its loading a save game with the trainer activated at the main menu.
