Its pretty much open world. Controls a bit annoying as I had to swtich between controler for driving and keyboard and mouse of everything else. Just play the game and let the story fold out is all I can say. I havent played in a while since my attention got drawn to some other games I play more. But its still a good game. Plus stealthing with the trainer making the enemy freak out is awesome plus using the caged animals to your advantage to just epic.

After a couple of hours I am underimpressed.
How can an "open-ended game" have a zone which if you leave, you die? Open-death? 40 tutorials before the game really starts? Clunky interface, choose between dumb tutorials or unexplained events (like Double-clicking an icon to make it work) One weapon slot? I had a pistol, got an SMG, bought a sniper rifle, but restart from the save and I have an SMG; switch to weapons, and I only see the sniper rifle. Weird interface. Nice graphics, but tedious as hell to learn. Not at ALL like the other Far Cries. This one is a far cry from a great game. After Borderlands2, I'm spoiled. I'll keep trying though. A usable trainer would help, but as a leftie, it just won't work for me, as the numpad is where I live in a game.
BUT - it is really nice to be cured of Malaria!

My opinion is that it's a good game, overall. There are things that are tedious, like hunting and skinning animals for upgrades. There are parts that seems repetitive, like climbing the towers. It can feel like a grind sometimes. But, that's a small part of the whole experience. I had a blast planning the approach and execution of a mission. For me, I went with stealth as much as possible and had a lot of fun doing it. I enjoyed using the trainer on this because the unlimited ammo and money options helped with some of the grinding.

Hope this helped you. Enjoy the game, I know I did.

OP just stated they found it boring as they expected a true open world experience.

2nd Poster just offered differing opinion.

    Result was OP getting irate.

The are some walkthroughs around, just not on here. The trainer can help, I played it before but got it in steams sale (like you I assume?).

I was not a fan of other FC games, but this one I quite enjoy. Maybe its due to the slightly unhinged nature of it though

Oh, and as for "open worlds", they are all limited by some factor. Be it a "mountainous region you cannot pass" or "a cliff". Unless you take something like EvE which is just HUGE the will always be limitations on open world games.

Just a comment and a request:
I used the trainer to get to the part where you have to perform a special maneuver to take out a boss. It starts on a beach near some rocks. Apparently you can only 'win' if you kill him in a special way, in melee and I think with a certain move. I cannot get it right; I've never been very good at special moves, like running and diving for cover, or moving backwards and swinging at the same time.
Anyone else still playing this game? Any ideas on how to get past that part? I've tried and tried, but I always fail.
Is there a lot of good game play beyond this point? I went back and tried FC2, but then I remembered the stuuupid "malaria" twist to the game that really ruins it for me; I also in FC2 loaded the saved game here, but cannot escape out of the area in order to just run around.
Anyway, is there any other way to kill the boss on the beach other than melee?
    Thanks!

Can you recall the name on the map where that fight takes place?
I don't recall seeing a difficult Boss on a beach just yet, and i'm about half way in.

He also pointed out that it was not what he was expecting. That is the reason why I stated do your research before you buy a game. Or al add this dont expect anything in a game and just enjoy it as it comes!
