Game Crashes When Leaving In-Game Menus

I am using the latest trainer with Steam's 'Darksiders II'; the 360 Controller; 1920 x 1080 full screen; Windows 7...

Must start here because I don't know for any fact that this is a trainer issue. I've also posted in Steam and with their Support too.

Problem is become serious and may affect play depending on whether things get saved automatically and/or how often I want to restart the game and not use _any_ of the in-game menus, which is getting pretty impractical.

When I leave a menu item such as looking at the map, inventory, pausing to pee, either of the Back or Start menus the screen displays a 'cloudy gray' field that has a bright white center that sort of undulates in and out a little. The game is unresponsive at this point but I can use Alt-Tab to return to the desktop and then close the game from its task bar tab. If I attempt to return to the game instead the screen goes dark and Alt-Tab no longer works--C-A-D must be used.

Problem started off infrequent right from the start. Now in the second day of gaming the problem is clearly become very frequent. Of course my greatest fear is that the automatic save game is corrupted?

Windowing the game instead of Full Screen has no affect. I haven't messed with dumbing-down graphic features... I suppose I should do that next.

Any understanding of a solution for this or troubleshooting to take would be very appreciated. Thank you.
