I shouldn't be playing such an old game on Steam and expect CH to stay up to date.

The Steam version of the Risen.exe is 1.0.28552.0. Your version 1.1 Trainer of course didn't work.

Someone suggested running the .exe directly bypassing Steam? I tried that but don't seem to know how to avoid Steam still running in the process and the Trainer still wouldn't work.

I just downloaded the Console Activation code to see if it will work. I also downloaded the original Trainer that lists no version and we'll see if it works first or not.

Posting this just to see if, even in this very late state, there might be a known CH/Steam solution?

Giving up on trainers I found a way to activate the Risen console in Steam by typing 'minsky' followed by Enter quickly. '~' now brings up console. This should suffice. Sorry for the 'bother'.
