Like I said it can easily be a region specific .exe file. Obviously it is designed to work on the American version since Caliber is from the US.
Only an odd time does the trainers not work for both the US and the UK versions. But on the whole they do work.
Dead Space 2 works for me, with latest trainer.
One thing I noticed what you said, "cause the game to stop working within a few minutes of it starting".
So you started the trainers, and then 2 minutes later the game crashed? That sounds more hardware issue than trainer, but I think you meant instantly from your previous replies.
The only thing I can suggest is to grab a no-cd/crack from megagames.com (back up the original .exe files), obviously if you wanna play online with BF3 you just copy back the original .exe file to do so, and when you want to use the trainer then put in the crack.
EDIT:
The latest patch infact for BF3 is 1.4, but you did say you have 1.3 installed. So make sure you are updated. And then grab this file
LinkAnd obviously use the latest trainer
EDIT2 MORE LIKE A EPIPHANY:
Do you actually legally own BF3, which may explain why you aren't above patch 1.3? Cause if you legally owned it you should be patched up higher than 1.3
