For the FX8120 i have a benchmark site that compares this processor
with other amd and intel processors

    Link

I am using myself a ati 6950 which performs very well in max payne 3 and other new games.
So i bet a 7850 will do the same.
    Psu 550 watts is good.
The asrock 970 i am not familiar with, but no doubt will do its job.
8GB ram is good also especially when using windows 64 bit operating systems.

As with all hardware its hard to tell if its future proof
speed wise , since games always get more demanding.

    hope that helps a bit

happy gaming with your new pc

You can't say everything, I am not a fan of ATI cards I prefer Nvidia due to the hardware Physx and Cuda operations.

Other than that, as said not all software or games are the same and require different hardware to work flawlessly. So in the whole it will work ok, but with latest titles like Max Payne 3 it won't due to the GPU not being the best.

Hi Craver, if you don't mind me asking,How much did your rig Cost you? just curious thats all,i also hope your new rig serves you well,i must add i have always used Nvidia they seem to be so good for one reason or another,i suppose for a lot of members they don't care what GPU is installed as long as the rig works, lol so good luck with it all.

Ati 7850 (or 7870 which i might take) wont do the job for games like maxpayne 3 in 1680x1050 resolution??? You are the first guy on every tech forum/site that tells me that!

He says to work flawlessly, to some people that's 3 monitors, etc, doubt the 7850 can pull that off with Max Payne 3.

    I don't know though.

It can run at the resolution but not so well as its Nvidia counter part.

All ATI cards have to use software emulation for Phsyx and CUDA, because the cards have no hardware for those, so thats extra GPU and CPU resources needed for that.

Just trying to get you ready for a disappointment when you try at full settings and wonder why there is lag and perhaps some bugged shading etc.
