Get a set of gold find gear and run the first level over and over on whatever difficulty you are on currently. You can net millions per run. The reason for Act 1 is the few mobs to bother you and a ton of pots to break open. In later difficulties the pots can drop 1000's with full gold find gear. You want at least 150% gold find to start this and 300% goldfind for the later difficulties.
Pots were nerfed several weeks ago and now rarely, if ever, drop gold from them anymore. Blizz specifically nerfed pots because people were over-farming them for millions of gold. It's no longer an option for gold farming, unfortunately.
A great place I've found to farm is as follows:
In Act I, when you get to the checkpoint at the gate to Leoric's Manor Courtyard, there is always about 8-10 corpses for gold/item drops, 1 chest, and a pack of elites or a gold boss mob (sometimes both). Then, go inside the manor, and there are ton more mobs you can kill on the first level, plus a few more corpses and occasionally, a boss mob. The key is to NOT go through the double doors at the top of the second floor. Once you get to the room that has the double doors in it, clear it (if it has mobs in it, or a chest), and then Town Portal back, sell off what you picked up, store what you're keeping, then leave game. When you Resume Game, you'll be back at the gate of Leoric's Manor Courtyard. Each run takes maybe 4 mins tops, and you can collect a decent amount of gold, as well as items.
I'd been farming arreat crater in Nightmare for a while with 240% gold find. The crawler mobs drop a decent amount of gold and it doesn't take too long to get through each level. Lately I've just been doing act 1 in Hell since I hit level 60 and get Nephelem buffs.
Reason for farming arreat crater in Nightmare is lower cost of armor repair since you won't be taking as much damage and you can kill things quickly. Plus its amusing to hear Claudia Black's sexy voice talking to me. ^_^

Ok best spot for farming items is act3 inf imo.Specifically from Seigebreaker all the way to Asmodan.Lots of elites and 2 bosses. The problem is its kinda hard if you don't have the proper items but you'll have your 5NV up and running in no time.
I find I dont get any deaths till act 4 Hell lol...But after that dying is pretty common..Most of the time i farm act 2 inferno The Vault of assasians Has atleast 6 rares/elites in it
i finally made mys first good char for inferno my barb giving mostly str - vit - all resistance ... finally i dont die that easy... only dps is low i atleast dont die that easy
