Product Code is not working

    So my sister kindly bought me a copy of Portal 2 on the disk for the PC and when I went to install it, everything was fine until I had to enter the product code. I've tried many, many times, and I've never had this sort of problem before but the message pops up:

    'Your account has not played Portal 2 on the PlayStation 3 system

    The product code you have entered requires that you first play Portal 2 on the PlayStation 3 system before it can be registered."

    And then it's followed by instructions to do so.

    This would be fine if I wasn't installing the PC version. And this would've been a minor inconvenience if I actually had a PS3.

    What I'm assuming has happened is that the product codes got mixed up somehow so I'm going to attempt to get an exchange. Hopefully they'll be super nice.

    But does anyone have any tips, ideas, anything to fix this? I'm really, really keen to play this game and to be stopped like this is almost too cruel.

    Edit: Actually, scratch all that. I got it exchanged. They were lovely, just explained what happened and viola! Very straight forward
