I do not like the fact that in this game you cannot save manually. I wont even go in to why I just don't like it.

Yeah, I hate it too. It's a sign the game was developed for consoles and not for PC. A true PC game allows the player to save anywhere at anytime since a PC generally has a lot more saving space than a console.

I hate it too. A quick save option would have been awesome. Especially with all the random crashes people have experienced. At least in Skyrim I have the ability to save after every three steps.

you could always find the nearest door with detective mode then go inside and come back out and the game autosaves when you enter and exit a door

my game doesn't even create a save file -_-; if i exit to the menu then i can continue from the last autosave point but if i exit the game i have to start from the beginning every time
even alt-tabbed out and the save directory was empty..

Anyone know if there is a way to copy the saves it does make for a backup or anything? I have had it crash while autosaving and corrupt the save it has and then had to start the game completely over when I was on clayface.

For me the saves seem to be in:

    C:\Users\MY NAME\Documents\WB Games\Batman Arkham City\SaveData

    for windows 7.

From what I heard, securerom likes to delete save games, and you won't even get save games if you don't sign into a gfwl profile (offline or online).

    @ khanex
You must first create an offline account with gfwl(yet another reason to hate this aweful forced crap).

When you go to start game and GFWL opens click create NEW account.

scroll down thu text and click create offline account.

I also had to accept gfwl "new" terms on the website you may or may not have to do the same.
