Yeah, the fact that you cant attack from horse back and their lack of speed bothered me too. On top of that when the horse decides to attack enemies it frequently gets in my line of fire so it has me fretting and being extra cautious when attacking enemies in those cases. I'm not sure; can you buy another horse from the same stable if your horse dies or does the game only have one per stable available? I mean if so you've got to really be careful not hit your horse when attacking enemies otherwise if you accidentally get too many killed soon you won't even be able to have the option of riding a horse. Sure the horse can be good at drawing attention away from you at times, but their attacks don't seem to do much harm to the enemy. I dare anyone to try to keep standing or conscious for that after a horse that size rears up and kicks you in real life.

Yes the horse dose do that attacking thing since its a war horse and yeah its attacks do kinda suck. Also yeah I do kinda worry about hitting it to. But if if dies you can buy another from the same place. Only thing is it costs you another 1000 gold.

Oh and a side note I had a glitch with them horse vanished while I was on it and also when I stood in front of it. It turned its head to look at me and I was inside its head. (No brains completely empty).

A benefit to horses is that they can run up hills that are hard for you to do and Shadowmere will run and attack /anyone/ that's an enemy to you, I've had Shadowmere just run up to dragons, bandits, anything. All without being attacked.. and Shadowmere can't die permanently, I remember there used to be a trick in Oblivion, people would kill Shadowmere and put items in his corpse and then he'd resurrect and you could kill him again later to get your loot back.

Do the people complaining about horse sprint speed realize the there are three speeds? Walk and run are toggled with shift or caps lock, and sprint (or Gallop on horse) are used by holding Alt. I briefly looke through post and didnt see it mentioned, if i missed it I apologize.

    My problems with horses:

    - Speed
    - Physics - If you've never seen the bug where your horse suddenly flies off after you dismount: www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_KPvdowTlk

    - Attack AI - No idea what determines whether the horse attacks or flees. I've been attacked by two equally geared melee bandits before. I dismount to fight them. First one the horse charges in and helps me kill. Second one the horse flips out and runs away.

Or the horse will suicide into dragons and vampires but woah now a simple wolf? FLEE!

One time I had to go attack some place on an island in the middle of a lake so I parked my horse across the shore and swam on to the island started stealthing. Suddenly detected because apparently my horse decided to swim across and assault the island too.

    - Stay AI - Where the !@#% did my horse go? Sometimes i'll park it some place. And it will randomly decide to run away for no reason. No mobs nearby.
