blades sword is the best for me. if you use the console commands to increase your smithing ability you can turn it into(or any other weapon for that matter) a one hit kill.
I carry two just for the decapitation moves.

In my opinion these are the answers to your question
The best single handed sword well that is the Daedric Sword (legendary) has a damage of 72. Blades Sword (legendary) is only 63 damage (although having what appears to be a katana is kinda cool).
as for Maces well
Mace of Molag Bal has a damage of 67 (legendary) and has its magical bonuses
Don't know much other maces sorry.
