Since the second to most recent update (before hot fix) when running game I have been getting a cras

I have the same issue. You can try downloading Phys/X from Nivida, I do not have the download link for that. But that may be one fix, another is trying to verify files if you are on steam. By clicking properties than finding a tab that will state verify files.

I've tried so many things to try to stop that run time error that crashes the game. I've almost given up on the game because of it

Now it crashes the game (pc steam version) as soon as you try to load you character save file so now it's completely incompatible.

And the next game version with non-gamespy multiplayer should be coming later this summer.
