Most of this thread is from late last year, but I'm still getting the C++ Runtime Error. I had posted under the trainer section but then saw this thread, so thought I'd add it here as well.

This error is (with the 1.42 Steam trainer):

"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."

For me, it happens every single time I get near Knox's Armory, though I don't know if it's simply due to time played or specific to the area. I've gotten this crash every time I've played since the trainer was released last December. I thought I'd just wait for an update, but since there hasn't been one I wanted to pass this on. Has anyone else been getting this crash? If I don't start the trainer I never get the error, so it's definitely due to the trainer...

On a separate note, thanks for all the work you guys put into making these trainers!

Confirmed. This error still happens after about the same time as others have said. I picked up Borderlands on Steam again while it was Free to Play this weekend. I have already finished on console but wanted to play through it again with a trainer...

Sadly this error is making that very difficult. It sucks to crash in the middle of a quest and have to redo potentially large parts of it.

Any ideas as to fixes or upcoming trainers to address this would be much appreciate. Thank you kindly!

    I know 1.41 was fine.

But remember there is 1.42 and 1.42.1 for steam.

And 1.42 had a hotfix and you need that trainer no doubt.

Actually, the latest trainer 1.42.1 (steam) is newer than the 1.42 hot fix, so I don't think that's the issue. The runtime error happens 100% of the time with the current Steam version of Borderlands and the 1.42.1 trainer. To be honest, it's been happening 100% of the time since the patch was released in December...

Didn't say it was a problem, was just letting people know who are using the 1.42 trainer that there was a hotfix trainer also.

As for the 1.42.1 I have ran it and it does start fine, as for the game I only have the retail version which means 1.41 is highest patch I can get (and no the cd-key doesn't work on steam or else I could have tried that :P)

Downloaded the Trainer 1.42.1 Now it's almost time for Borderlands 2 and I never played a Siren, started the trainer, pressed f1 pressed num4. Shortly after that when I encounter a npc or interact with something I get this error.

I have the GOTY Edition (shouldn't matter?) and the latest patched Steam version. Tried the 1.42 Trainer also. Steamcommunity was deactivated, shouldn't matter either?

Would be nice if you could look into it just wanna rush through the game with a Siren before BL2 comes out.

(and yeah I know it's a double post)

dabhand I think you misunderstood the issue. The trainer works and the game starts up just fine, but after a period of time the game will crash. Just starting the game up to verify it'll work doesn't demonstrate this issue, you need to play it for 45 min +

I'm a bit late to the game, but I just got this game, tried both the 1.42.1 and 1.42 Hotfix. trainer, the first trainer lets me play, 3-40 minutes tops, but the Supposed Hotfix Crashes INSTANTLY... Help! btw, anyone know how to look at what version is installed on steam??
