Hey guys needs some advice here.
I am currently running an nvidia 9600gt 512mb, Playing games on a 19" Lcd with a native resolution of 1440*900. Most of the games run fine but the latest dx11 titles have started to give my 9600gt a hard time, So I am thinking about upgrading to gtx550ti as its a dx11 capable card.
Will it b able to max all games including Crysis 2 at this resolution?
    My specs are
    C2D e6600 @3.0
    4 gb ddr2 667Mhz ram
    500watts Psu
    250Gb 7200rpm Sata hdd

    Plz advice
    Thx.

You might need to upgrade your RAM as DDR5 over DDR2 is redundant, also you CPU might give you problems.
    For Macaragge.

instead of a 550Ti i'd strongly recommend 560Ti. specifically Asus ENGTX560 Ti/DC2 TOP/2DI. comes with a very large heat sink and two cooling fans.

secondly pls do upgrade ur PSU to atleast 750W 80% Plus Bronze Certified because u r going to need a robust PSU and ur current PSU could prove woefully inadequate.

    What????

    Please no more trying......

There is GDDR5 but no DDR5, and DDR2 works fine in conjunction with GDDR5 since neither really meet at all.

Your PSU will just make it and no more for the power required.

I would however forget about the 550 series, Nvidia cards are better from x60 and up words, so buy a 460 or 560.

Oh yeah and make sure the motherboard supports PCI-e 2.0 x16. Or it will be wasted money.

Theres nothing wrong with a 550, especially at the resolution your monitor provides.

Its a very nice card for the price.

Though, if you ever plan to upgrade your entire rig/monitor at some point, a 560 Ti would be the better choice assuming you have the money to buy it.

If not then the 550 is perfect.

    And a 9600GT cant run DX11, only DX9/10.

At your resolution it should be able to max any game, though your CPU will most likely be the limitation.

It has half the cores of a 560, and is half the texel rastering speed.

Its memory bandwith is 1/3 slower than a 560 also.

It will work don't get me wrong, but for a few pennies more the 560 is the better choice.

So i should get a 550ti then. And i have no plans of upgrading my pc in the next 2-3 years, and don't u think a second one in Sli would be a good option if i plan on upgrading?
