Old news. And to cancel your pre-orders would be stupid move because this software isn't even finished yet and nobody even knows if it will work with games at the start. We'll have to wait long before they stabilize it enough to get it into games.

    Untested, unconfirmed, unreliable, etc etc.

It'll be a while before this technology is available for widespread use, and even then it's not necessarily going to be reliable or any good.

Always give new "revolutionary" technology a wide berth for at least 6-12 months when lots of money is involved, while it's thoroughly tested and utilized in a wide variety of situations. That way you're not going to waste said lots of money if it flops - remember Betamax? Or even HDDVD more recently?.

I admit I'm a little excited to see if this goes anywhere, but to be honest, that's the beauty of making a flashy video with epic music running in the background and having a guy doing a voice over sounding like he's about to have the worlds greatest orgasm. Its the same kind of cheap stunt which made people question the last update they gave years ago.

Thats pretty cool, but like everyone else said, its better to wait on these things before you fork out a ton of money on it.

I agree, I have seen alot of things that are announced, that look really cool, but then are shut down because they can never get it to work right.

I hate to aid in bumping a one month old topic, but these guys are full of absolute

The engine cannot actually handle animation, and it's not something just any computer can do - they're doing it with extremely high end systems, and even then, the videos they're shooting now are running at about twenty frames per second.

They're basically creating... Background scenery. That couldn't be used plausibly in any engine with animation. From my admittedly cynical perspective, they're just doing it so the Australian government will keep giving them grant money, corporations will buy into it, etc... And nothing will come of it. Remember the Phantom from Infinium Labs? SSDD.

What they should be looking at is improving what we've already got. Tessellation, etc. A way to create a single texture in one resolution that would look great at say, 2048x2048 and 480x480 without destroying performance on a computer that would have to use the latter, and without sacrificing the high definition look of one that could handle the former.

But, I'm ranting. TL;DR: These guys are not going to produce anything usable.

And even if they, by some insanely and stupidly small measure (think how small you are in relation to the universe, then cut that chance by about 500%) create something workable - the human eye literally cannot process "infinite quality."
