It'll take years to become big, if it does at all. Facebook is a pretty big rival right now.

I agree that I don't think it'll happen overnight. But even without Google+'s influence, facebook seems to be less and less active. I don't know if it's just me or if it actually is dying down somewhat. Mostly cause I haven't gotten a FarmVille notification in months.
