    You can't keep your old custom avatars anyway, only the current one, and you can change it to a free one then put it back any time you want.

    Why wouldn't they be? I paid for them....

    If you change your custom avi to a "free" avi, you still can get your custom back anytime you want just by going to the avatars page.
    But if you changed your custom avi to another "custom" avi, you will lose your previous custom.
