Hey every1 Raistlin Majere here from DragonLance if you don't know where the name is from. Been part of this site for 3 yrs now. I haven't been a real active member, but am working on being more active now. 27 yrs old. 8 in the Army(5 active, 3 inactive)3 yrs in the Army spent in Iraq. Then worked for Dept of State for 3 yrs in Afganistan doing Security for Diplomats, Officers and other things. I've been gaming now for 20+yrs and consider myselg a hardcore gamer (typically played much of the now-classic titles like Pac-Man, Tetris, Donkey Kong, Centipede, and the other arcade games of my time. In today’s world, however, the environment is quite different. Today, many people who spend much of their time playing Call of Duty or Halo in their lives consider themselves a “hardcore gamer”. Real gamers don't consider playing these over advertised games to be deemed HardCore. Real gamers are not worried about graphics or FPS, we got out of our way to find titles that no 1 has ever heard of before. The challenge is the best part of the game. Not just buying that 32player FPS and saying oh I'm a Gamer cause I got a 2.14 K/D ratio (who cares). (I think many people need to have a more open-minded view about what they consider to be “hardcore games” and “hardcore gamers”. Just because someone doesn’t play that many “BOOM, HEADSHOT!” games doesn’t mean they aren’t hardcore too. If you really like video games, keep up with gaming news, and actually treat them like a great entertainment medium, I truly believe that you should be, and are, considered a true hardcore gamer. Also, I’ve got no problem with you playing FPS’s obsessively. Just don’t mock the others that don’t.)Competition is another defining characteristic of hardcore gamers, who often compete in organized tournaments, leagues, or ranked play integrated into the game proper. In this light, professional gamers can be seen as an extreme example of hardcore gaming. It's also been said that "core" gamers or hardcore gamers is someone that plays a variety of games, master a large amount of games, and know a lot about the industry and history of video games.
I love every game and having a great converstion about any game from any era. I grew up on Atari, Nes, etc... Even that ever popular Oregan trails from PC. lol
