    Dont buy the 450's...

As a rule of thumb for Nvidia cards..

x20 series = utter rubbish, just for watching vids and perhaps playing sims >.<
x30 series = just as bad as x20
x40-50 = A bit better bit doesnt support specific hardware benefits.
x60 = a cost effective but strong series of cards with most hardware benefits. Quiet when fully loaded usually.
x80+ = the best there is with all hardware benefits, sounds like a space shuttle taking off when fully loaded but hey :P

So go for a 1GB 460. Not much of a price difference over the 450, and you will be happier.

What would you suggest I get then that is around the price of a 450?

price vs performance...get a 460 as Dabs suggested. safe bet.

Also make sure you get power adapters aswell, as some 460's come with a 6 pin and 8 pin connectors or 2 8 pin connectors. Most cards do come with both adapters onto a normal 4 pin molex connector, but some don't and assume you have a PSU with multi-changing connectors.

Also as I keep saying, your CPU is important too, if you dont have at least a dual-core with at least 2.6ghz it will cause bottleneck situations. Some may come and say "Nahhhhh I have run this and that with a 2.4 dual core etc", but it is important to have a nice core speed.
