Well I miss the time when games were 24 hours long(or 20), I miss the storytelling techicues in those games(Deus Ex, Thief etc). But I mostly miss is that when game's had an independent stily, now they are youst reciclyng. Now it is all the American stilly(action, sex, bobs)
Given that the industry is over twenty years old, recycling is going to happen. Especially since developers now share a lot of influences.
Also, with RPGs, they should take about a hundred hours to complete. A good RPG will easily keep you playing that long. Fable II, which was my first Next-gen RPG, was awfully disappointing in terms of game length and storyline.
@Rise: You consider PS3, 360 and Wii to be 3rd gen? Seriously? *shakes head*
i remember when one game lasted me a month. took me hour after hour just to clear one level/mission...especially RPGs. now most games last a few hours at best...rarely does a game come along that lasts u longer and has plenty of replayability.

Yeah, man. Think of how long it took you to walk across Daggerfall's map before you figured out fast travel.
I don't really favor one on another. I'm not going to act like the cool guy who likes the old games BUT to be honest, back when I had the Famicom (NES) I kinda enjoyed it more than any new game I played after including the 360 and the ps2 etc...
Maybe it's just because it was my first console it felt the best, but then again I love new games, I really can't stop playing AC2 these days. xD
I see what your sayin here. Im kind of the same way. I still love some of the SNES games that I played as a kid and play them when I get the chance to.
