As mentioned already, consoles of the past had devices like the Action Replay card, and Xplorer device. Unfortunately, they were never created for current-gen consoles such as the 360 or PS3. I think they mentioned it had something to do with how fast data was processed.

As also mentioned, CH has developed some trainers for Wii games. You can also use AR style codes through homebrew applications and can be found on various sites.

It'll be unlikely the 360 and PS3 will ever have trainers though, since the only reason it's possible for the Wii is because of the well developed homebrew community. I think the PS3 OS was recently hacked to run a homebrew, but it's unlikely it'll be as widespread as the Wiis'.

Cheats for consoles tend to disable achievements so I guess they try not to put some in most games.

Reason there is no AR's etc for the newer consoles is due to online achievements, Sony, Nintendo and MS wont allow 3rd party hardware to be used with their consoles.

For the Xbox it is very capable, will require the drives to be flashed but that is a grey area as it will allow you to play backups also. Therefore you could essentially burn an application to a disc that will allow the loading of specific games and code inject on the fly.

For the PS3 you will see that soon, with the PS3Jailbreak starting to become more popular homebrew apps can be run on a PS3. Again grey area as it will allow the use of backups put onto a HDD.

The Wii has had a system for a while, not sure if it still works or not, it requires a few processes similar to the NDS.

I use trainers for PC games so I don't have to type in the cheats that I require
