You can try using Disk Cleanup and ensure the "Thumbnail" option is checked when you clean it out. This will force Windows to rebuild your Thumbnail cache from scratch and might create new thumbnails.

I actually read that on the Microsoft forums, it didn't work. I even tried deleting the thumbnail cache files manually but it wouldn't let me.
